ACSyracuse, the professional soccer team coming to Syracuse, New York has begun their round of 8 in their mascot contest in hopes to naming the team/mascot name. The club kicked off this contest in June, taking recommendations from fans and Syracuse locals on what the team or mascot should be named. After receiving over 60 total submissions, the club decided to narrow it down to these 32 names shown above. The 32 names were all chosen because they were unique. Though fans of other clubs were not a fan of some of the names chosen to be in the bracket, there were many names that were true to Syracuse and its history. Some of the names included: The Swans, The Conductors, The Crossroads and Black Ice.
The contest is now down to only 8 names. These 8 names have battled it out against other names and have come out on top. For the remainder of the bracket, each set of polls will last one week. The final round will last one week but it will not be announced right after the completion of polling. ACSyracuse will be announcing the name at The Great new York State Fair come late August. This will give the clubs a couple weeks to work on possible new graphics, merchandise and more!
