The Four Horsemen Clinch the 2 Seed with The Win

Sunday’s second matchup of the day was between The Four Horsemen and Is Team. Is Team was looking for their first win of the season on their last contest while the Horsemen were looking to move up in the standings.

As field and weather conditions were of subpar nature, it made for an interesting game. Things started off hot for Is Team as they plated 3 runs on three straight solo home runs. One of those was by team captain Steven Durr as he was able to put one out one-handed and on his bum leg.

The second inning and third were quite except for Ben Bachrach’s solo home run to put the Horsemen on the board. Will Blum allowed just one run through 3 innings on the slick rubber, tallying 3 K’s and just 4 hits allowed with the 1 run. In the 4th inning Steffen Nobles took the mound.

In the fifth inning, Brennan Miller would finally knotch his first homer of the year making it 3-2, but Will led the bottom off with a solo home run to give Is Team some cushion back, 4-2. All setting up the sixth inning as a do or die moment for the Horsemen. After John Vicari and Brennan both grounded out, Ben would get some momentum going as he’d hit a solo home run to bring them wihtin one. John would rope one down the first base line and under the fence for a ground rule double. If there was ever a time to shine bright, Brennan did just that. He hit a deep fly to take the lead for the Horsemen, making it 5-4.

In the bottom half, Durr would strike again as he hit another solo home run to ultimately force extra innings. Neither team had anything going except a single by Ben in the top half that would be ruined by a double play afterwards. Is team would fail to capitalize as they would go down in order. The fireworks started flying all over the top of the eighth as Brennan hit a ground rule double followed by Ben ripping a single that would ultimately plate Brennan as the defense was caught slacking. After a fielder’s choice, Brennan and Ben would each go yard to give them some insurance runs. With 2 outs left Brennan would launch another solo shot to make it 10-5. Is Team went down in order with all going down on strikes to end the game.

Notable great performances from the mud game was Brennan with 4 home runs and 17 punchouts, Ben with 3 homers and Durr with 2 of his own, while again not at full health.

Final Score: Four Horsemen 10 Is Team 5
